The objectives of the SA- MN Business Council are to:

  1. Increase economic activity including bi-lateral trade and investment between South Africa and Minnesota.
  2. Raise Minnesota's profile among prominent South African businesses and business leaders.
  3. Use the strength of existing relationships through networking to develop new initiatives to link people, opportunities and resources.
  4. Promote a greater understanding of US-South Africa business opportunities.

The purpose of this blog is to share information about events, resources and experiences amongst the members of the Council to accelerate the learning involved in your business dealings with SA.

South Africa: Manufacturing skills to improve through technical training with Minnesota schools

Minneapolis, MN, Nov. 30 – Last night, the South African Consular General Yusuf Omar and the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MNSCU) officially launched the Minnesota Artisan and Vocation Skills Development Program. The program is aimed at promoting faster skills development for the emerging South African economy.

Dr Ronald Thomas, President of Dakota County Technical College represented MNSCU during the signing ceremony while Consular General Yusuf Omar and Dirk van Dyk, program manager of the National Tooling Initiative Programme (NTIP) represented South Africa.
